Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mary R. Massaroni Gorman, 77, of Rotterdam, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Monday, February 3rd. Born in Schenectady, NY on September 9, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Luisa and Ignazio Massaroni. She was preceded in death by her loving, devoted husband, Charles Elliott Gorman Jr. They were married on June 29, 1963 and enjoyed 33 wonderful years together until his passing in February 1997. Together they had three daughters, Diane (Paul) Roehl, Susan Gorman (Steven Boynton) and Lynn (Kevin) Maloney; three cherished grandchildren, Emily Roehl, Brendan and Liam Maloney; two step-grandchildren, Lucas and Zackary Boynton. Mom's greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. Gathering for the holidays were her favorite times, especially all the pre-holiday cooking and decorating. She included everyone in her preparations. Mom never missed a music concert, dance recital, football or basketball game. Her grandchildren always looked forward to seeing her smiling face at their events. Mom got hours of enjoyment out of watching and feeding the cardinals in her backyard. The annual family vacation week was what she looked forward to most. Mom made sure to keep that tradition strong even after Dad passed. At the shore she made sure to enjoy the waves, but she really loved hitting the boardwalk rides with her grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers, Dante (Gloria) Massaroni, Mario Massaroni; sister, Norma (Richard) Silaika; and sisters-in-law, Grace Massaroni, Mary Gorman, Joan Sumell; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Americo Massaroni; sisters-in-law, Jeanne Massaroni, Noreen Gorman and Carol McGuigan; brother-in-law, Henry McGuigan. Calling hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 6th at Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. Funeral services will be held Friday morning, 9:15 a.m. at the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St. and 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment, St. Anthony's Cemetery, Glenville. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the excellent care provided by numerous medical staff members in providing Mary with the best care. -
