Obituary of Assunta Slowey

Assunta Sue Slowey, 94, of Lakewood Avenue, Schenectady, died Sunday, February 23, 2014, at Ellis Hospital. Sue was born in the Bronx, NY, the daughter of Domenick and Carmela (dell'Aquila) Angiello. She moved to Schenectady in 1956. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother. Among her many talents, which she shared with so many, were gardening, knitting, cross-stitching, and pottery. She also loved to cook for family and friends, and her fabulous meals were the delight of family holiday celebrations. She was a woman of great faith and was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church. Sue was predeceased by her husband, Owen Slowey, who died in 1995. She is survived by five children, Margaret (the late Daniel) Fantauzzi, Susan (John) Criscone, Theresa (Dean) DeLuke, Joseph Slowey and Dominic (Kathleen) Slowey; a brother and sister, Gabriel Angiello and Anna Torino; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandsons; many nieces and nephews; and many dear friends. Funeral service is Friday at 11 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. There will be no calling hours. Interment at Most Holy Redeemer, Niskayuna. Memorial contributions may be made to 'St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , 505 N. Parkway, Memphis, TN 38105, or St. John the Evangelist Church, 816 Union St., Schenectady, NY 12308. Funeral arrangements are by the Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. -
