Obituary of Gladys Blanchard

Schenectady - Gladys M. Blanchard, 92, died Saturday, March 29, 2014. Gladys was born in Ballston Spa, NY, the daughter of the late Robert and Nellie (Williams) Hickok, Sr. She was educated in Schenectady City Schools and graduated from Draper High School, class of 1939. Gladys was a loving and caring homemaker and a longtime member of Lisha Kill Reformed Church. In 1960, she relocated to Lantana, FL with her family. After her husband's retirement, they moved to Graham, NC. They returned to the Capital District in 2005. Gladys was predeceased by her husband, Earl C. Blanchard, Jr.; their daughters, Deborah Jean Blanchard, who passed away in 1959 and Margaret Ann Blanchard, who passed away in 2004; and her brother, Robert Hickok, Jr. She is survived by her son, Stephen (Sherilyn) Blanchard of Ticonderoga; three grandsons, Joshua, Timothy and Jonathan (Jocelyn) Blanchard; great-grandchildren, Jeremy, 3, Jayna, almost 2and a third on the way; two sisters, Jennie Hickok and Rachel Phillips; and several nieces and nephews and their families. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. A calling hour will precede the service from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park, Colonie.
