Obituary of William Johnson

William A. Johnson passed into the arms of the Lord on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 in Saratoga, NY. He was the son of the late Margaret B. and George V. Johnson. He leaves his wife of 43 years, Patricia Bucci and his three children, Joshua, Erin (Scott Hogan) and Scott (Julie). He is also survived by five beautiful grandchildren, Liam and Lucie Hogan and Peyton, Olivia and Nora Johnson. Additional survivors are his brother, George (Sharon) of Burlington, Washington, many cousins, and nieces and nephew. Bill was born in Columbus, Ohio on January 25, 1947. He grew up in Farmingdale, Long Island, and graduated with a degree in engineering from Northeastern University. He worked for 22 years for General Electric Company, first as a field engineer and then as a computer programmer. He also worked for Keene Associates of Albany, NY and New York State Departments of Parole and OMRDD. He retired in 2011. He and Patty lived in Glenville, NY for 34 years. After retirement, they moved to the dream home, that they had built in Northville on Sacandaga Lake. Bill was a beloved father and husband, an honest, faith-filled man who devoted himself to his family and community. He was a passionate boater and water sports and baseball enthusiast. He enjoyed classic automobiles and had an amazing memory for the details of their engines and body designs. He spent over 10 years involved in the Albany Diocese Residents Encounter Christ program and ran a weekly bible study at Mt. McGregor Correctional Facility in Wilton, NY. He coached his sons in baseball and soccer and was happiest when surrounded by family and friends. Calling hours will be Thursday, April 10, 2014 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m., Friday, April 11, 2014 at the Church of Immaculate Conception, 400 Saratoga Rd. (Rt. 50), Glenville, NY. Interment will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Glenville.
