Obituary of Maria Carmela Austria

Niskayuna - Maria Carmela Lagarejos Austria, peacefully passed away on Monday, April 14th, 2014 at her home in Niskayuna, New York, after a lingering illness. She was surrounded by her husband, children and two siblings. "Ella", as she was fondly known, was a devoted wife, mother and elder sister, and was deeply devoted to the Blessed Mother Mary. She was an active leader of the Bukas Loob sa Diyos covenant community, Albany district and of the Philippine-American Club of Schenectady. She was a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist in Schenectady, NY and of Christ Our Light in Loudonville, NY. Ella was a graduate of the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines with a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering. She enjoyed travelling with her family and on religious pilgrimages, and was an ardent proclaimer and witness for the Catholic faith. Ella was born on November 26th, 1960 in Binangonan, Rizal, Philippines to Enrique E. Lagarejos and Luzviminda Cervo Lagarejos. She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Ricardo, two children, Anthony and Andrew, and five siblings, Jose Morrelle, Jaime, MariJoy, Henry and Maria Charina. Calling hours: Wednesday, April 16th, 4-7 PM with novena at 6 PM, and on Saturday, April 19th, 4-8 PM with worship service at 4 PM at the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan Street, Schenectady, NY 12304. Funeral service will be held on Monday, April 21st at 1 PM at Christ Our Light Catholic Church, (1 Maria Drive, Loudonville, NY 12211,) where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Reception to follow. Interment will be private at convenience of the family.
