Obituary of Lawrence Connelly

Niskayuna - Lawrence F. Connelly passed away Thursday, May 1, 2014 after a long courageous battle of both heart and cancer illnesses. Larry was born in Schenectady, son of the late John and Helen Connelly, on February 6, 1940. He was a graduate of St. Columba's High School. Larry proudly served with the U S Navy on board the USS Compass during the Cuban Missile Crisis and was employed 35 years with Niagara Mohawk. As a child and young man, Larry enjoyed spending summers camping with his family. As an adult, he enjoyed golfing, fishing and collecting memorabilia. His greatest joy came from closely supporting his children and grandchildren in all their activities. Larry is survived by his wife, Stella (Miano) Connelly and they would have celebrated 49 years of marriage this June. In addition to his loving and supportive wife, he is survived by his children, Karen Connelly, Laureen (Jeffrey) Reddish, Sheila (Kevin) Brazell and Jay (Jessica) Connelly; grandchildren, Drew, Grace, Madeline, Lane, Charlie, Esa and Finn; his sister, Jackie Lochner and his many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m., Tuesday at St. John the Evangelist, Union St., Schenectady. There will be a brief visitation period from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Church on Tuesday. Interment will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
