Bonita Springs, FL - Thomas E. Hess, 79, of Bonita Springs, FL, formerly of Niskayuna, died January 2, 2014. Tom was born in South Amboy, NJ, the son of Rudy and Susan Hess. He earned his B.S and M.B.A. from Seton Hall and earned the professional designation of CLU from American College. He was a US Navy veteran. Tom worked for Allstate in sales management, retiring in 1998 with 35 years service. In his retirement he was an active volunteer with the Salvation Army, the Literacy Council and at his church in Bonita Springs, St. Leo the Great Catholic Church. Tom was predeceased by his first wife, Iola Horan Hess, she died in 1995. He is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Frances Vincent-Hess; a daughter, Daniela (Bert Scholl) Hess-Scholl; a brother, Robert (Barbara) Hess of South Carolina and Florida; and two grandchildren, Cal Hess and Beau Scholl. He was predeceased by his sister, Susan Zoll. Funeral service, Friday, 1 p.m. at the Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. A calling hour will be held from 12 to 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Inurnment, Memory Garden's Cemetery, Colonie. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Schenectady, 1411 Union St., Schenectady, NY 12308.
