Obituary of Evaline Keefe

Niskayuna - Evaline T. Keefe, 88, formerly of Palmer Ave., died Friday, September 26, 2014 at Ellis Hospital. Mrs. Keefe was born in Manhattan on September 23,1926, the daughter of John and Eva Smith. She was a graduate of Jamaica High School. She moved to the Schenectady area many years ago. She was very proud of her 31-year career with the New York Telephone Co., later AT&T, retiring in 1989. Evaline was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was a wonderful cook and baker and was famous for her pies, scalloped potatoes and was an avid Yankee Fan. She was a lifelong member of the Telephone Pioneers, where she made many dear friends. Evaline was a lifelong communicant of the Roman Catholic Church and had attended St. Helen's Church and currently St. John the Evangelist Church. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, the love of her life, William T. Keefe; four children, Ellen (James) Mindel of Niskayuna, Diane Keefe of Saratoga Springs, Lenora Caffrey of Scotia and William (Lisa) Keefe of Niskayuna; 11 grandchildren, Sarah Keefe, Lily (Michael) Dickson, Seamus Caffrey, Aisling (Will) Caffrey-Santiago, Yvonne (Neil) Kessler, Amelia and Lauren Mindel, Maria (Nicholas ) Sampone, Sasha Fox, Catherine Keefe-Harris and Olivia Keefe; 11 great-grandchildren, Haleigh Snare, Isabella and Ethan Dickson, Aihblinn, Ronan and Caragh Kessler, Laurita and Victoria Sampone, Rogue Fox, Javier and Mateo Santiago; and several nieces and nephews. Evaline was predeceased by her three sisters. Funeral service, Tuesday, 8:15 a.m. from the Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady and 9 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours, Monday evening, 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment, Park View Cemetery, Schenectady.
