Schenectady - William C. Busch, 92, died Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam, after a short illness. He was formerly of Snowden Ave., and for four years resided with his daughter, Kathy, and her husband, Richard Rivers, in West Charlton. Bill was born in Schenectady, the son of Jozef and Stephania Puszcz, with the birthgiven name of Boleslaw Puszcz. He was a graduate of Nott Terrace High School, where he participated in many sports that led to his lifelong passion for golf. Bill was a World War II veteran, serving in the Coast Guard. At one time he worked for the New York State Department of Labor, the ALCO, later working for many years for the City of Schenectady in the water department, retiring several years ago. He also worked at Macy's in the men's wear department for over 25 years. Bill was a life member of the Knights of St. John Commandry 100 and a longtime communicant of St. Joseph's Church. Bill was predeceased by his wife, Bernice Butch Busch, in 2008. He is survived by three children, Kathleen (Richard) Rivers of West Charlton, Lorraine Busch of Rochester, and Robert Busch of Overland Park, KS; one brother, Edward Puszcz and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by five siblings, Joseph Puszcz, Thaddeus Puszcz, Stephen Busch, Mary Rogowicz and Stephanie Karwan. Funeral service Saturday morning, 9:15 from the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady, and 10 o'clock at St. Joseph's Church (State and Lafayette St.), where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours Friday evening, 6 to 8 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities medical Transportation 1400Dunnsville Rd. Schenectady, NY 12306.
