Obituary of Arthur Melius

Rev. Dr. Arthur Melius, 77, died on Thursday, October 2, 2014. Rev. Dr. Melius was born and raised in Albany, NY, the son of the late Floyd and Esther Melius. He graduated from Hamilton College and Yale Divinity School and then earned his doctor of ministry from Drew University. Rev. Dr. Melius was a Methodist Minister for many years, faithfully serving the Hudson Falls United Methodist Church in Hudson Falls, NY, First United Methodist Church in Schenectady, NY and then Grace United Methodist Church in St. Johnsbury, VT. He was an avid Yankees fan and beloved husband, father and grandfather. Rev. Dr. Melius is survived by his wife, Sharon Melius; children, David (Diane) Melius, Jill (Marc) Schermerhorn and Leslie (Geoffrey) Oblak; grandchildren, Alex, Brandon, Ryan, Michael, Jackie, John, Kylie and Drew; and siblings, Sonia (Charles) Suter and Stephen (Sandy) Melius. The funeral service is going to be held on Monday, October 13, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Faith United Methodist Church, 811 North Brandywine Ave., Schenectady, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 421 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205.
