Obituary of Ardis MacDonald

Niskayuna - Ardis M. MacDonald, 90, passed away Thursday, October 16, 2014. Ardis was born in Schenectady, the daughter of the late Alice and Maurice Leifels, and was a lifelong area resident. She graduated from Nott Terrace High School and worked for General Electric as a young woman. After marrying J. Bruce MacDonald, she was a homemaker for many years and later in life she worked at Sunnyview Rehab Center. Ardis was a longtime member of the Edison Club where she played bridge and golf. She loved to travel with her husband, especially to Florida. She was a long time communicant of St. Helen's Church, a member of the Niskayuna Women's Republican Club, and an avid NY Yankees fan. Above all, she loved her family, most especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she cherished. She was predeceased by her husband, J. Bruce MacDonald, who died in 2001. She is survived by her daughters, Susan (Dan) Bick and Sr. Laurie MacDonald of the Franciscan Sisters of the Atonement; grandchildren, Chris (Marilou) Bick and their two children, Morgan and Lauren; Robin (Jason) Jost and their two children, Thomas and Matthew. Her sister-in-law, Barbara Leifels; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many good friends. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brothers, Robert and Jack Leifels. Calling hours will be Monday, 5 to 8 p.m. at Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. Funeral services will be Tuesday, 8:15 a.m. from Daly Funeral Home, then to St. Kateri Tekakwitha, Union St. (formerly St. Helen's Church), where Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Interment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
