Rotterdam - H "Tiny" Jackson, 96, of Rotterdam, passed away Friday, November 28, 2014. Tiny held many offices in area veterans organizations. Tiny was a member of the American Legion for 40 years. He was Vice Commander Post 21 from 1974-1976 and Commander Post 21 from 1976-1979, Past Sargent-at-Arms and Past Chaplin Post 1092, Past Boys Sate Chairman Post1092, Vice Commander Schenectady County 1977-1978, Commander Schenectady County 1978-1980, Sergent-at-Arms 4th District 1980-1981 and Sergent-at-Arms NY State Dept. 1982-1986, Treasurer Schenectady County from 1993 until present. He was a member of La Societe des 40 Homes et 8 Chevaus (Society of 40 Men and 8 Horses) Honor Society from 1974 until present. Tiny was Commander Chef de Gare 1984, Treasurer Commisar Intendant 1989 present. Tiny was involved with Veterans of Overseas of America 1998 to present, National Chaplin 1989 present, Post 16 Treasurer and Life Member. Disabled American Veterans Lt. Vibret O. Fryer Chapter #88 1987-present Life member since 1989, Commander 1994-1996, Chaplain 119-1993, Treasurer 1998, State Executive Committee Representative. He was part of the American Military Retirees Association 1987 to present, and was also involved in the Veteran of Foreign Wars 1968-present. Tiny was involved the 27th Infantry Division Association since 1971, holding the positions of National Chaplain 1997-present and Schenectady Unit Treasurer. His work with the Veterans Administration Volunteer Service included Stratton V.A. Medical Center, Shuttle Bus driver, and Volunteer at functions. Tiny was a member of the Rotterdam Elks Lodge, a Communicant of St. Helen's Church where he was an usher and on the finance committee. He was predeceased by all of his siblings and parents. He is survived by his wife, Jean (Comanzo) Jackson; four children, Donna (James) Strang of Rockville, MD, Deborah Ellis of Kansas City, MO, Ora (John) Henkes of Colonie, NY and Donald (Kelley) Bell of Medford, NY; and 10 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. Funeral service, Tuesday, December 2nd, 10 a.m. at St. Gabriels Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment, Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.There will be no calling hours. The family would like to say a special thank you to the Veterans Hopsital Staff of 9c. Donations can be made in Tinys' name to the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 88 and the Rotterdam Elks. Arrangements by Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St.
