Obituary of Krishnan Nair

Schenectady - Krishnan Nair, 71, died Friday, December 12, 2014 at his home in Schenectady, following a prolonged illness. He leaves his wife of 39 years, Santhamma Nair; his daughter, Leena Nair; his son, Vinod Nair; in addition to a large extended family and friends.
Born and raised in India, the son of Madhavan Pillai and Karthiyayani Amma, he came to the US in 1977 and remained in Schenectady his entire life. Prior to moving to the US, he served in the Indian Air Force as a Sergeant. While in Schenectady, Mr. Nair worked at Environment One Corporation before attending SCCC for his Associates Degree in Culinary Arts. He retired from Golub Corporation where he worked as a Bakery Manager.
He enjoyed cooking and was well known for his Thanksgiving meals. Mr. Nair enjoyed outside activities such as gardening. The consummate joker, he was always putting a smile on everyone's face. He was a wonderful husband who put his wife and family first, many times sacrificing his own needs for theirs.
Calling hours will be held at Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan Street, Schenectady, on December 14, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the same location on December 15, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
