Obituary of Francis Ruff

Schenectady - Francis "Frank" Ruff, 90, passed away Monday, December 15, 2014. Frank was born on January 14,1924 in Schenectady. He was the son of the late Frank and Mary (Wilber) Ruff and was a lifelong resident of the city. He graduated from Schenectady Vocational High School and proudly served in the US Army Corps of Engineers during World War II in Europe. Frank worked for Niagara Mohawk for 40 years, retiring in 1986 as a line foreman. He was a member of the Broadway Methodist Church, Niagara Mohawk 25 Year Club, Niagara Mohawk Fish and Game Club, Rotterdam Elks, 60th Combat Engineers Group and Hudson Valley Battle of the Bulge #49. Frank is survived by the love of his life and partner of 53 years, Lois J. Mulvey; his children, Linda (Americo) Pallante, Karen (John) Stenard, David Ruff; grandchildren, John Stenard III (Tori), Christopher Stenard (Odilie) of Menifee, CA, Jason Pallante of Fort Worth, TX; and great-grandchildren, Alivia, Michael and Isabelle Stenard. Frank loved gardening, exercising, but most of all, the company of his adoring family and the country he served proudly. It was that love of country that he passed down to his children and grandchildren, He was a larger than life personality who left a positive impression on everyone he met. Calling hours will be Friday 4 to 7 p.m. at Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. The funeral service will be held Saturday 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
