Obituary of Rosala Lokie

Schenectady - Rosala (Rose) Lokie, 85, died January 19, 2015 at Ellis Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Rosala was born April 27, 1929 in East Coast, Demerara, Guyana. Rosala and her late husband came to United States in 1979 driven by a dream for a better life. Rosala was married for 38 wonderful years to her beloved late husband Edwin Ramcharran Lokie. She was a longtime member of the Schenectady Hindu Temple. Rosala loved spending time with her six children, 19 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. She truly enjoyed listening to religious Hindi music and reading the Bhagavad Gita. Rosala was predeceased by her eldest son, Sooklall (Dolly) Ramcharran. Rosala is survived by her beloved daughters, Seeta (Roopnaraine) Rambarran of Canada, Sattie (Motilal) Ramroop, Raj (Ron) Singh, Davikha (Sewnaraine) Madho; and her beloved sons, GoPaul (Agnes) Lokie and Ram (Hazel) Lokie, all of Schenectady, NY. Rosala leaves to cherish her memories to her beloved 19 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. Calling hours for family and friends will be held on Friday, January 23, 2015 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan Street, Schenectady, NY. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 24, 2015 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Daly Funeral Home. Burial will take place immediately at Parkview Cemetery, Schenectady
