Scotia - Kenneth J. (Pop) Mundweiler, Sr., 101, of Cambridge Manor, died Thursday, January 29, 2015, at home.Ken was born in Schenectady, the son of Frank and Mary Singsheim Mundweiler and was a graduate of St. Joseph's Academy.
For 43 years he worked for the New York State Division of Parole, retiring in 1972 as th Executive Secretary to the Board of Parole. He enjoyed many summers at his summer home in Lake Pleasant, NY, where he gardened, fished, picked berries and spent time cooking gourmet breakfasts for his family. Ken was a lifelong communicant of St. Joseph's Church.
He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret Nealon Mundweiler in 1993.
He is survived by one son, Kenneth and his wife, Carolyn Mundweiler, Jr. of Scotia, three grandchildren, Patricia (Michael) Holmes, Joseph (Cheryl) Mundweiler and Richard (Amy Mundweiler; 10 great-grandchildren: Stephanie, Kelly, Robert and Matthew Holmes, Joseph, Jennifer, Daniel Mundweiler, Derrick, Andrew, Brandon Mundweiler and special niece, Janet Fuentes. He was predeceased by his two sisters, Clara Jacob and Felicia Mundweiler.
Funeral service, Friday morning 10:30, from Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady and 11:00 at St. Joseph's Church (State St.) where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours, Thursday afternoon, 4:00 to 7:00 in the evening. Interment, St. Joseph's Cemetery
Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Schenectady, 1411 Union St., Schenectady, NY 12308, who made his last days peaceful and comfortable or, to City Mission, 425 Hamilton St., Schenectady, NY 12305, one of his favorite charities.
