James Campbell Obituary

James A. Campbell, 77, of Orlinda Avenue, passed away Monday evening, March 16, 2009, at Ellis Hospital. He was surrounded by his loving children. Jim was born September 2, 1931 in Schenectady, a son of the late Burton Campbell and Dorothea Gray. He was a graduate of Scotia High School. For 30 years he proudly served as a firefighter for the village of Scotia. In 1989 Jim retired from the force as Captain. He also worked 40 years for Rochester Midland, retiring in 2005. Jim's greatest passion in life was his family, most especially his beautiful granddaughters. They will remember him as a wonderful man who enjoyed many special times at Trout Lake, where he savored his greatest lifelong hobby, ice and trout fishing. Jim was the beloved husband of 55 years to the late Marge Suchocki Campbell, who died July 1, 2008. Also predeceased by his son-in-law, Daniel Ross, who died in 2000, and brother, Harold Campbell. Survivors include his children, James Campbell and his wife, Anne Marie of Rotterdam, Susan Ross of Burnt Hills, and Christopher Campbell of Scotia; four devoted granddaughters, Erin Campbell, Lisa Campbell, Dani-Leigh Ross and Hannah Ross; and many nieces and cousins. Funeral service Saturday morning at 10 a.m. from the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan Street, Schenectady. Reverend Dr. John Califano will officiate the service. Interment will follow in Maple Shade Cemetery, Scotia. Calling hours to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be held Friday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
