Obituary of David Bowder
Please share a memory of David to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Niskayuna - David M. Bowder, aged 72, departed this life in his home unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 4th. Born in Buxton, England on January 7, 1943, son of the late Frank and Ida Bowder, Dave led a carefree childhood roaming the hills and dales of Derbyshire. After graduating from the University of Bradford, he was recruited by General Electric in 1968. Always ready for an adventure, Dave and his wife, Liz, moved across the Atlantic where Dave was a mechanical engineer in the Large Steam Turbine Division for 35 years. His career took him and his family across the globe to locations such as Spain, Romania, Korea, Indonesia, China, and India. Dave lived life to the fullest and was quick with a joke and a laugh. He traveled to over 50 countries and embraced other cultures with open arms. True to his adventurous nature, he rode an ostrich in South Africa, bungee jumped at age 50 in New Zealand, and fished for piranha on the Amazon River. While he never met a pub game he didn't love, his heart was dedicated to golf. Having been taught by his father as a teenager, only snow could keep him off the course through his retirement. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 50 years, Liz; his son and daughter-in-law, Andrew and Megan; his daughter, son-in-law, and grandson, Alison, Ben, and Benjamin; also by his family in England, his aunt Joan, his sister, Mal, as well as Paul, Emma, David, William, and Hermione. A memorial celebration will be held at the Mohawk Country Club on March 12, 2015 from 4 to 6 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to his memorial fund to 80 Molly Court, Niskayuna NY12309.
