Obituary of Jeanne Stiegeler

Schenectady - Jeanne "Tiggy" Martin Stiegeler, 89, died unexpectedly Friday, May 22, 2015. Jeanne was born in Schenectady, the daughter of the late Rose and Frank Martin and was a lifelong area resident. She graduated from St. Joseph's Academy in 1944 and as a young woman worked for ALCO, where she met her husband, John W. Stiegeler. During the 1960's she worked at the Altamont Fair, and after her children were all in high school, started working full time again with Navy Exchange in Scotia, where she worked for almost 20 years. Tiggy enjoyed golf, bowling, day trips, sewing and baking. She was a longtime communicant of St. Gabriel the Archangel Church. Jeanne was predeceased by her husband in 1998; their daughter, June Mahan in 2008; and their granddaughter, Jamie in 2010. Jeanne is survived by her children, William Stiegeler, Lynne (Louis) Leo, Nancy Stiegeler, James Stiegeler (Sharon Thomas); grandchildren, Michael, Gabriel, Jessica, Casey, Michael, Danielle, Daniel, Tara, Raphael, Rachel, Matt, Marta and William; great-grandsons, Aiden and Avery. She is also survived by her cousins, Lawrence and Linda Barry, Eileen and Tom Dixon and Michael and Joey Glennon; and very dear friend, Barbara Adams. Calling hours will be Friday, 4 to 7 p.m. at Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Gabriel the Archangel Church, 3040 Hamburg St., Schenectady on Saturday at 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Schenectady.
