LeRoy Card, 93, formerly of McClellan St., Schenectady, died Tuesday, May 10, 2011. Mr. Card was born and educated in Albany. He had lived in Schenectady for 37 years before moving to Ipswich in 2001. He had been a baker for Millbrook Baking Co. in Albany, and had worked with the New York State Department of Mental Hygiene, as a baker, retiring in 1977. Mr. Card was a U.S. Army World War II veteran, serving in the African and European Theatres. He was a VFW Palmer Post 6776 life member in Albany and the American Legion Post 1486 of Schenectady. He was an active member of the Summit Towers Tenant Assoc. and was a past president for five years, a former mason and member of St. Joseph's Church. He was married to Lillian Card; she died in 1996. He is survived by five children, LeRoy E. Card of Mechanicville, Louise DeSantis of Schenectady, Diane Pelliter of Colonie, John E. Card of Bakersfield, CA, George Card serving with the Navy; and a step-daughter, Beverly Pawlows of Clifton Park; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Wednesday, 9:15 a.m. from Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady and 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church (State and Lafayette St.) where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Tuesday 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie.
