In 1967 my family and I moved back to Schenectady into the home my mother was born in. Mr and Mrs Meaney lived next door with their 3 young daughters. Over the years the Meaney's were a constant in the neighborhood. Mr Meaney was always a pleasant, friendly neighbor. I can remember him barbequing in his garage in the freezing cold of winter. Funny the things that stick with you. My condolences to each of you, Erin, Ellen, Tara, Thomas and Heather. Your family will always be a part of my good childhood memories from Regent St. Janice (Puchalski) Jahne

Tara, I am so sorry over the passing of your dad. I will always treasure the memories of the various “virtual” discussions about history with him. He is such a funny, smart, observant, and wise man. I will miss him.

That's what I always called him..... Mr. Meaney. I knew him for 40 years and never once called him anything but Mr. Meaney. It never occurred to me that anything else would be appropriate, because I had so much respect for him. Growing up with his children, I was at his home hundreds of times, many times for the whole evening. He was always so welcoming to me and made me feel very comfortable, even when I was eating up all his snacks. I remember many a sunday afternoon, watching baseball with him sitting in his lazyboy chair. This is a direct quote - "Hi Keith, come on in. Have a seat, would you like a beer?" That never got old and I'll never forget it. I'll miss you Mr. Meaney! Thank you for being you.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of Tom's children. Your father was always so nice to me. Even when we were young and I was keeping his kids out too late, he never gave me a hard time. I'm sure you don't need me to tell you how great he was........but I'm saying it - he was great. Thank you for sharing him with me and your other friends.
