Obituary of Walter Herderich

Glenville - Walter Otto Herderich, 84, of Reserve Ct., formerly of River Rd., Niskayuna, died Saturday, February 25,2017 at Ellis Hospital. Walter was born in Schenectady, the son of Otto and Emma Herderich. He was a graduate of Nott Terrace High School and was a U S Navy Veteran. He worked many years with his father at Mohawk Paint & Glass, before becoming the owner operator of the family business. He was a longtime member of the Niskayuna Rotary and the German American Club. Walt enjoyed restoring cars, woodworking, golf and singing. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and was a member of the choir. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Barbara Sauerschell Herderich. Walt is also survived by two sons, Walter E. (Margaret) Herderich of Delanson and William (Shanna) Herderich of Marietta, GA; a sister, Eleanore Robert of Dalton, MA; 2 grandchildren, Walter D. (Ryan) Herderich and Kevin (Jesse) Herderich; 2 step-grandchildren, Brian and Melissa Fratine; step-great-grandchildren; a niece and nephew, Yvonne and Gaston. Walter was predeceased by his daughter-in-law, Cindy Herderich. Funeral service will be held Thursday morning, 10:30 from Daly Funeral Home, Inc. 242 McClellan St. Schenectady and 11:00 at Zion Lutheran Church, (153 Nott Terrace Schenectady). Calling hours Thursday morning from 9:00 to 10:30 at the funeral home. Interment Most Holy Redeemer, Niskayuna with military honors.
