Obituary of Jeffrey Alan Verra

Rotterdam - Jeffrey Alan Verra, 59, died peacefully Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Ellis Hospital, after a long illness. He was surrounded by his loving family. Jeffrey was a graduate of Notre Dame/Bishop Gibbons High School. He served in the United States Marine Corp. in the late 1970's. He received a degree in Culinary Arts from Schenectady County Community College and was a skilled chef. He cherished spending time with his family and friends and was loved by everyone. He was an accomplished bowler and golfer. He had a passion for fitness throughout his life. Jeffrey is predeceased by his father, John Verra; his brother, Hank Verra; and his brother-in-law, Thomas Therrien. Survivors include his loving wife of over 20 years, Jennifer Verra; his beloved son, Jacob Verra; his mother, Nadine Potter Verra of Rotterdam; two brothers, Michael J. Verra (Gail) of Westbury, Long Island and Ronald D. Verra (Donna) of Guilderland; and three sisters, Diana M. Seymour (Joseph) of Hillsdale, NJ, Maureen A. Verra of Rotterdam and Marilyn C. Therrien (the late Thomas) of Scotia. Survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and his two favorite cats, Otis and Otto. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 10 a.m., September 13 at Madeliene Sophie Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives & friends are invited to attend. Burial will be in St. Cyril's cemetery. Calling hours will be at The Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan Street, Schenectady, from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 12.
