Schenectady - Roy J. Pollock formerly of Schenectady, died Monday, December 4, 2017, at home.
Roy was born in Richmond, VA, the son of Campbell and Susanna Pollock and moved as a child to Schenectady. He was a graduate of Nott Terrace High School and was a U S Marine veteran serving in World War II. He received a Silver Star from the Pacific Theater, Battle of Peleliu. He always worked in the dairy industry, starting with Stone's Fifth Ave. Dairy and retiring from Borden's. Roy enjoyed golf, family activities and driving for business and for pleasure.
He was predeceased by his wife Pauline; they met at Blythewood on Gull Bay Lake George. They were married on August 1, 1948; she died in 2010. They were also predeceased by their daughter Ruth Pollock.
Survivors include two children, Michelle Pollock of Bolton Landing and Michael (Diane) Pollock of Rotterdam; a sister in law, Gloria Doerner; a grandson, Michael Thompson; many nieces, nephews and their wonderful families, as well as many dear friends, old and new. He was predeceased by his eight siblings, brothers, William, Ezekiel, Campbell, Jr., Thomas and John Pollock and sisters, Mildred Ramsey, Ruth DiDonna and Suzanna Mastro.
Funeral service, Tuesday afternoon 1:00 at St. Luke's Church (1241 State St. Schenectady) where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. A calling hour will be held at the church from 12 to 1:00. Interment, Park View Cemetery, Schenectady, with military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bolton Rescue Squad, P.O. 1054, Bolton Landing, NY 12814.
