Niskayuna -Joan Lupe, 84, of Schenectady, NY passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday October 6, 2018 from Parkinson's Disease.

Joan was born December 11, 1933 in Schenectady, NY, the daughter of the late Helen and Joseph Monaco.Joan was a graduate of Draper High School and worked at the New York Telephone company before marrying Robert A. Lupe, Sr. and joining theWade Lupe Companies Family business.

Joan and Robert "Bud" Lupe, married for 65 years, had five children: Shelley Lupe (Peter), Wade Douglas Lupe (Martha), Lori Lupe Pelish (David), Robert Lupe Jr. (Pamela) and Marisa Lupe Wayland (Terry). They were blessed with and cherished their grandchildren Robert B. Lupe (Joleen), Amanda Wayland Dorn (Cody), Liza Rucinski (Kevin), Rainer Pelish (Leah), Nick DeRuve (Ashley) Landen Pelish (Meg), Dane Lupe (Jenny), Wade Lupe (Erika), Raleigh Wayland ((Chelsea), Timothy Wayland; their step grandchildren Kelly Thomas (Dan) and their great-grandchildren, Adelina, Jacklyn, Joanie, Robbie Jo, Olive, Reed, Gavin, Benjamin, Audriana, Sofia, Aria, Elliot, June and their step-great-grandchildren Talia and Logan Thomas. Joan has four beloved sisters Norma Digesare (Dom), Marie Pertierra (Bill), Anita Parente (John) and Dolores Metzger (Ron). She was predeceased by Norma and Dom Digesare and Bill Pertierra. Also, she deeply loved all her nieces, nephews, cousins and all her dear friends.

What was evident was the most important part of Joan's life was her large family, extended family and close friends.Joan was an extraordinary hostess, always welcoming everyone into her home. Her most cherished were her grandchildren and great grandchildren, She delighted in everyone of their accomplishments and "growing up" antics. Also she delighted in her loving extended family and her friends' children and their grandchildren.

Her welcoming, legendary get togethers extended to their second home in Lake George. Joan and Bud traveled extensively with family and friends. She was an aficionado of gourmet food, beautiful art, gardens, entertainment and books. Everyone who knew her sought her opinionated but sage advice. Her booming laughter will be missed. Of course her precious dogs, Frankie and Johnny will be forever in her heart.

The Family wishes to thank her dear aids Sandra, Heather, Tyrisha, Olivia, Faith, Excel and Valerie. Also we wish to thank Home Instead and Visiting nurses (Pam). Their extraordinary care gave Joan and her family great comfort. A special thanks to her dear friends Lynne Francy and Dennis Englert.

Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday October 14th from 1 pm to 4pm at the Daly Funeral Home 242 McClellan St . Following, a memorial service that will start at 4pm at The Daly Funeral Home.
