I'm one of 3 brothers born to a father who was much younger than our Aunt Hazel, Dick's mom. So, we were little guys when Dick was a teenager. Over the years we grew to know him as a compassionate helping professional who undoubtedly guided many people to a better life. His calm yet enthusiastic approach to his work informed you of that. He and Edna were fun to be with always; their remembrances of early family days brought out the laughs. Although we didn't have the privilege of spending a great deal of time with Dick, the time we had instilled a great deal of pride in knowing we had a cousin who was making a difference. Rest in Peace.

It was my privilege to have known and worked with Dick for many years. One of the best things I ever did as Northeast Executive Director was to hire Dick as our Intake Coordinator. Dick was a true gentleman, consummate professional with a wonderful sense of humor. Dick was highly respected by family Court judges, Probation Department workers, Social Services workers, Educators and colleague professionals. I often sought out his advice and when I didn't he would offer it anyway. Most of all Dick was respected by the kids - I can think of no better tribute.
Dick may your family find joy and peace in your life well lived.
I will always remember you and Edna.
Lance

Many memories of "Mr. Kelly" that make me smile. When I was a brand new teacher, the class was out of control many days. One day as a student was acting out and trying to climb out a window, Dick happened to be walking into the building. It only took a few seconds before he was at the classroom door. He reprimanded the student and winked at me. After he was gone another student began to tell everyone that Mr Kelly had "saved his life," by letting him live in the dorm." The class was very quiet (for a change) and listened as this student said, "Never disrespect Mr Kelly that way!" I would say that Mr Kelly had saved many lives. Other memories include Christmas parties, Dick's retirement party and Dick and Edna's wedding anniversary party. He did like to party. His faith in the Lord was obviously what drove him in a life filled with pain and joy. I read this quote recently, "On the day you were born, you cried and the world rejoiced. On the die you die, the world will cry and you will rejoice." We will cry, Dick but mostly we will rejoice with you. Love to the Kelly family. Maggie

It was an honor to work with Dick Kelly and a delight to be one of the Village People with him at that holiday party. He deftly balanced humanity and hijinks.
