Obituary of Scott C. Kownack

Schenectady – Scott C. Kownack, 51, passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday June 5, 2021. Scott was born in Schenectady, the son of Donna (Linton) and Richard Kownack and was a lifelong area resident. He was a 1988 graduate of Linton High School and attended Hudson Valley Community College for Civil Engineering. Scott worked for Masullo Brothers Construction Co. for many years, working his way up to project manager, helping to build hundreds of homes throughout the capital region over the years. He was also a residential painter and most recently had worked for UPS. Scott enjoyed fishing, was a gifted artist and as a young man was very fond of working on his 1967 Ford Mustang. He loved a day at the beach, especially while working on his tan, but nothing brought him more joy than his family, most notably his twin children: Alexis and Nickolaus. He had passionately coached the twins baseball teams for several years to become their biggest fan and most loyal advocate throughout all of their endeavors. He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years Erika (Schroeder) Kownack, children: Nickolaus and Alexis (Konstantinos Dikas) Kownack, mother Donna (Francis) Hughes, brother Richard Kownack, sister Tammy (Andy) Mazzucco, father-in-law John Schroeder, brother-in-law Stephan (Mea) Schroeder, nieces and nephews: Brandon, Logan and Julianna Mazzucco, Emily and Alice Schroeder, and Lucas and Sophie Kownack and dear family friend Jacob Lussier as well as many other family and friends. He was predeceased by his dad Richard J. Kownack, mother-in-law Mary Schroeder, grandparents Olyve and Reginald Linton and Calvin Kownack and nephew Austin Mazzucco. Calling hours will be Thursday 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday 10:00 am at St. Kateri Tekakwitha, 1803 Union St., Niskayuna. Interment will be in Park View Cemetery
