So sorry to hear of your loved ones passing. I worked in the office at the Health Dept with Jack, always enjoyed his wit and kindness, Jack had a treasure chest of information to share, especially about the Yankee's. Prayers for you and your family at this difficult time

Back in July of 1962 I attended a Cardinal Mets game at the Polo Grounds as a youngster with my dad and as it turns out a young Jack Wrenn was there as well but I was not aware of until many years later when we both became officers of Colonie baseball. It’s funny how these things work out and we both reminisced about that day and Musial’s 3 home run game. It was a pleasure to coach with and against Jack right through Senior Babe Ruth baseball. And aside from some good natured ribbing back and forth he was always respectful and supportive win or lose.
Years later I would occasionally run into him out food shopping and if I didn’t see him first I would definitely hear him calling out Mr Cardinal or some such remarks about the Cardinals and we would stand blocking the aisle for who knows how long just catching up on family and of course baseball. And as I would stand there listening to Jack the similarities of Jack and Uncle Leo from Seinfeld would pop up in my mind just that same cadence, accent and gestures and it would make me smile, it must be a NY City thing. And these are the memories I will hold on to of Jack, it was a pleasure and honor to have known you and your friendship. Wishing strength and comfort to Brenda Meaghan and Brendan and as well his brother Patrick
Live Jesus in our hearts forever ( it’s funny too whenever Jack would post that prayer it always made me think of my high school days at La Salle when I first heard and recited that prayer as well )

Memory #1
Setting – John and Patrick’s childhood home in Astoria.
Background – I am Patrick’s friend and 3 years younger than John. John and I were altar boys at SFA Church. He liked to act as my mentor / teacher so that I would be suited to role-play HIS saying Latin mass.
“So, you be the altar boy and I will be the priest”, he said. Sometimes I felt trapped BUT, it meant so much to him…how could I not?!?!
John was oh-so-serious at these times…..no joking around tolerated……..And thus the practice “saying” of the Latin Mass would commence.
Upshot – He was always very serious about his faith, which I hope helped him manage the more challenging times in his life.
Memory #2
Setting – the kitchen in their childhood home; John coming out of his small bedroom which was next to the kitchen. Mrs. Wrenn would be smoking a cigarette and looking out the window into the backyard.
Background – John would be hungry and decide he needed to make a hamburger.
“I need to eat something”, he would say, slapping a burger patty on the cast iron pan and hearing it sizzle. When it was done, slapping it onto a plate, in between 2 pieces of White Bread and putting a lot of ketchup on it. Then bringing it back to his room while Mrs. Wrenn yelled something about not making a mess. If he was not compliant enough she might say, “Bold as a pig”, which was a common refrain.
Upshot – He knew what he needed, what he wanted and took care of it!!
My condolences and hugs to Patrick, Brenda, Meghan and Brendan....... Tom Ott

Jack was a wonderful man and certainly loved his family more than anything. I'm so sorry for your loss. I first met Jack at Heritage Park many moons ago. I was thrilled to reconnect with him when he began working for DOH. We had many a chat about baseball and politics (we were on the same team on both counts.) Rest in Peace Jack. You fought the good fight.
