Margaret L. Cooper Obituary

Margaret Dawsey Cooper of Scotia, NY, passed away peacefully at her daughter's house, surrounded by her family, on April 28, 2023. Born July 23, 1924, in Port Kent, NY. She was the daughter of the late James Dawsey and Emma Dubrey. Margaret was a graduate of St. Columba High School. At one time, she worked for General Electric and later worked as an employee at KEM cleaners in Scotia.


The most important thing in Margaret's life was her family, taking care of children, helping with her siblings, and in later years providing care for the older members of her family. She enjoyed working in her yard, shopping for her family and most especially loved decorating her home for the holidays. Margaret was a long-time communicant of St. Joseph's church and the Red Hat Ladies.


Margaret is predeceased by her husband Donald Cooper and three children: Richard, Mark, and Debbie. Those left to cherish her memory: Donald (Donna), Douglas (Karen), Dennis (Karen), Suzette Near (Mitch), Darren (Kelly) and daughter-in-law, Maureen. She also leaves behind 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, her sister Rose Frasso (Jim) and her brother Donald Dawsey (Diane).



Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, between 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan Street, Schenectady, NY.


A Christian service will be held immediately after, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park 2150 Central Ave, Schenectady, NY. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
