Rose E. Cirincione Gatta, 88, passed away peacefully with her family by her side. She entered her eternal rest on Saturday afternoon, February 6, 2010, at Kingsway Arms Nursing Home. Rose was born in Schenectady on July 18, 1921, a daughter of the late Salvatore and Jenne Scialabba Cirincione. Raised and educated in Schenectady, she was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School. Rose then attended and graduated from Albany Business College. For over 25 years she worked as the office manager for her brother's medical practice, Dr. Dominic Cirincione. After her retirement, Rose enjoyed traveling, cooking and being with friends and family. While her children were growing up, Rose was an active mother participating in Girl Scouts and as a Cub Scout den leader for Pack #13. She was a former communicant and longtime Feast worker at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, and more recently, a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church, both in Schenectady. Beloved wife of the late Paul P. Gatta, Sr., whom she married June 20, 1942. He passed away March 13, 1991. Also predeceased by her loving sisters, Mary and Lucy Cirincione. Rose is survived by her children, Paul P. (Candy) Gatta, Jr. of Liberty, NY, and Elaine M. (Daniel) Polsinelli of Glenville; grandchildren, David (Katie), Lori (Geoff) Passehl, Michael, Katie, Brian Gatta, Mark (Christy), Mike, Cheryl, and Dan (Christine) Polsinelli; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Dr. Dominic Cirincione and his wife, Rae of Schenectady; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held Thursday morning at 8:30 a.m. from the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan Street, then to Our Lady of Fatima Church, Rosa Road, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Schenectady. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family for calling hours on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Daly Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Rose's name to the Ellis Hospital Foundation, 1101 Nott Street, Schenectady, NY 12308, Community Hospice of Schenectady, 1411 Union Street, Schenectady, NY 12308 or to Our Lady of Fatima Church, 2216 Rosa Road, Schenectady, NY 12309.
