Obituary of Joan Krause

Joan A. Krause, 74, of Myrtle Ave., died Sunday, November 6, 2011 at home, after a short illness. Mrs. Krause was born in Albany July 16, 1937, the daughter of Charles and Margaret Allen. She attended the Cathedral Academy of Albany. She had worked for WT Grant and the NYS Right to Life for 25 years. She was the "super pro-life mom" of the unborn. In 1956 she married her husband of 55 years, David W. Krause, Sr. at Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto. She was past president of St. Paul the Apostle Church where she also taught religious education. She was a 56-year member of the Secular Order of Discaled Carmelites. She was a devout Irish Catholic and was committed to First Fridays all her life. She was a homeroom mother, PTA mother and Den mother. Joan was an artist, loved to travel, spend time with her family, watch the movie classics and listen to music. She will always be remembered for being a dedicated loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family will love her always and cherish her memory every day. Joan was predeceased by her husband, David W. Krause, Sr.; he died May 13, 2011. Together they raised six children. She was also predeceased by a brother, Thomas Allen. She is survived by six children, Julie Krause Becker, David Jr. (Holly) Krause, Jennifer Krause, Steven (Linda) Krause, Daniel (Mary Jo) Krause and Christopher (Saundra) Krause; one brother, Lawrence Allen; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral service Wednesday morning, 8:15 from the Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady and 9 a.m. at St. Luke's Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours Tuesday evening 6 to 8 at the funeral home. Interment, St. Joseph's Cemetery, Schenectady.
