SCHENECTADY- Marlyn H. Martiniano, 77, of Schenectady, passed away Sunday, July 25, 2010, at Ellis Hospital. Marlyn was born April 2, 1933 in Amsterdam, a daughter of the late Raymond and Helen Thatcher Ehrke. She was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam. Marlyn began her career at New York Telephone where she worked as an operator in the Amsterdam office for several years. She was subsequently employed by Grand Union Supermarket on Sacandaga Road in Scotia as a cashier and clerk. After 25 years of service Marlyn retired from Grand Union. She was a member of D.A.R. (Daughters of the American Revolution), a participant in golf leagues at Schenectady Municipal Golf Course, and an active parishioner at Holy Name of Jesus National Catholic Church. Survivors include her husband, Arthur A. Martiniano; children, Elizabeth Battaglia and her husband Peter, Carol Taylor and her husband David, Nicholas Emanuele and his wife Sue, Theresa Kruse and her husband Don, and Michael Emanuele and his wife Brenda; a sister, Rae Frances; grandchildren, Lisa Gold, Brett Gold, Kyle Carlson, and Ryan Carlson; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral service Thursday at 8:15 A.M. from the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan Street, Schenectady, then to Holy Name of Jesus National Catholic Church, 1040 Pearl Street, Schenectady, where a Mass will be celebrated at 9 A.M. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Schenectady. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 5 to 8 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made in Marlyn's name to Holy Name of Jesus National Catholic Church, 1040 Pearl Street, Schenectady, N.Y. 12303 or to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, T.N. 38105-1905.
