When there were only three t.v. channels in the capitol district region, "Mac" was the sportscaster who mattered. I grew up in small Salem and when I called in the sports scores (collect, no less!) to Bob at the station he gave me 2 minutes to tell the game's story and make a case for why he should mention it on the 11 o'clock sports. If SWA was mentioned, we felt famous. I later went into college & majored in sports journalism... I wanted to BE what I'd always seen Bob MacNamara be... a professional, entertaining sports reporter. My condolences to his family. RIP Bob.

My sincerest condolences on your loss. Mac was a truly great man, and an equally great friend. I doubt that we will ever see a reporter as dedicated, as influential, and as knowledgeable as Bob McNamara.

Though I live far away now, I have many memories of Mr McNamara's sports broadcasts. I grew up listening to his sports reports on the nightly news. My condolences to his whole family.

Our Dear Robert. God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be. So he put His arms around you and whispered "come to me." With tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you pass away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, kind loving hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best. We loved you and will miss you dearly. Love, Paula, Ed, Billy,Ben,Maribeth,Mitch
