Robert G. McNamara, 76, of Redington Shores, Florida, died Sunday, October 17, surrounded by his loving family, at Albany Medical Center, after a short illness. Mr. McNamara was born in Albany, son of Robert and Cecelia McClune McNamara. He was a graduate of The Cathedral Academy and St. Anselm's College. Bob, well known as "Mac", spent his 45 year career as a journalist and sportscaster, retiring from WNYT in 2001. He is survived by his long time companion, Sylvia Anapolis; five children, Brian, Jeff, Kelli, Graham and Colin McNamara; one brother, Gerry McNamara; three grandchildren, Larkin, Paige and Quinn McNamara; nephew and niece, Gerry and Erin. Funeral service will be Thursday morning at 9 from the Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan Street, Schenectady, and 10 at Our Lady of Grace Church, 73 Midline Road, Rt. 146 A, Ballston Lake, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours are Wednesday, 4 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Interment, St. Joseph's Cemetery, Schenectady. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Schenectady City School District Athletic Hall of Fame, c/o Bob Pezzano, 1916 Baker Ave., Niskayuna, 12309 (Designated for Scholarships) or Joan Nicole Prince Home, 22 Glenview Dr., Scotia, NY 12302.
