Neeny, I know Pop was there to catch you and embrace you as you left us. I can just imagine how impatient he's been. And Bruce, smiling his sly hansome smile. And Jake bouncing around, wagging his tail all over the place like a windmill. I don’t think words can express how lucky I count myself to have had you as my grandmother, as a part of my life. I’ll never forget the stories of little orphan annie, I shoulda said shut up, and the bananas. All the times we spent walking Jake, discussing poetry, or just cooking in the kitchen and telling me stories about our family. I owe you so much, to the very core of my being. Even though you’re not here with us anymore and have gone on to worlds better than this one, these memories and so much more will forever be dear to me, stored away in a golden space within my heart reserved just for you. And even though I am so torn that you are not here with us anymore, I know one day we will meet each other again. I love you so much my grandmother. May the angels ring out in a resounding voice to greet you at the brilliant gates of heaven. May God and Jesus welcome you with loving open arms and may you find eternal peace and happiness reunited together with Pop. We miss you. Your grandson and granddaughter, Joshua and Elke

Ever since I was a little girl, I enjoyed visits with your mother. She was so kind to me and always dressed so beautifully, she left a lasting impression on me. Your mother and father were good friends of my mother, Roberta Kerl Smylie. In fact, Nina's sister Bobbie was my mother's maid-of-honor. Mom often shared many of the fun adventures she had with Nina, Alex, Bobbie, and Jack. Please accept my sympathy at her loss.
