Obituary of John Lewis

Schenectady - John Lewis, 44, a lifelong resident of Schenectady passed away suddenly from natural causes while at home. Born in Schenectady, he was the son of the late Francesann Lewis. John was a graduate of Linton High School and worked as a police officer for 16 years after graduating from the Zone 5 Law Enforcement Academy with top honors in firearms. During his career, he was a member of the elite SWAT team and earned numerous awards and commendations. John had a lifelong passion for fitness and bodybuilding, which earned him 1st Place in the 2008 INBF NYS Bodybuilding Championship-Mens Novice Heavyweight Division. He also enjoyed golfing, motor sports and spending time with his son. Like his mother, John had a love for all animals, most notably his companion, Guinness. He was also a proud member of the Freemasons-Evening Star Lodge #75 F&AM in Latham. John is survived by his son, Owen Lewis; brother, Jimm (Kim) Lewis; nephews, Jake and Bradyn Lewis; aunt, Joan (Thomas) Farone; cousins, Tom and Tracy Farone; uncle, Louis Galardy, Jr. A memorial service will be held Wednesday morning at 11 at St. John the Evangelist Church. Calling hours 9 to 11 Wednesday morning at the church preceding the service. Interment will be private.
