Scotia - Eugene Gene E. Klein, 74, of James St. died Friday, February 21, 2014, at Ellis Hospital. Gene was born in Troy, the son of Howard and Elizabeth Klein. He was a graduate of St. Peter's High School in Saratoga Springs and attended St. Michael's College. Through the years he worked at the ALCO, Sterling Winthrop and Finserv. He was a communicant of the former St. Helen's Church, now St. Kateri Tekakwitha. Gene enjoyed woodcrafts throughout his life, making lemon blossoms and chili sauce to share and will be remembered for his quick wit. Gene was predeceased by his wife, Joyce Murphy Klein; she died in 2004. He is survived by three children, Laural (John) Libertore, Kiersten (Adam) Smith, Robert (Dani) Klein; four grandchildren, Ethan, Jacob, Bethany and Daniel; and a great-grandson, Brody. He was predeceased by a brother and sister, Robert and R. Pat Klein. Funeral service, Thursday morning 9 o'clock at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ellis Hospital School of Nursing, 650 McClellan St., Schenectady, NY 12304.
