Schenectady - Richard J. Gapczynski, went home to the Lord surrounded by his loving family, Saturday, February 22, 2104, at Ellis Hospital.
Rick was born in Schenectady, the son of Chester and Sadie Gapczynski and was a graduate of Nott Terrace High School. He was a produce inspector for the Golub Corp., retiring in 1995 with 35 years service to the company. He was known for enjoying his family time, a sunny day, firing up the grill and watching football. He was a communicant of St. Luke's Church. During his last years he grew in his faith and liked praying with his wife at his side.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years Sylvia Croote Gapczynski; six stepchildren Debra(Brian) Colello, William Siler, Joanne(Susan Ashley) Siler, Christine (Michael) Haus, James Siler and Michael (Darcy Wells) Siler; four brothers Chester (Doreen) Gapczynski, David (Karen) Gapczynski, William (Laura) Gapczynski
and James (Regina) Gapczynski; eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a great granddaughter Caroline Donnelly.
Funeral service Thursday, 11:15 from the Daly Funeral Home, Inc. 242 McClellan St. Schenectady and 12 noon at St. Luke's Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours Thursday morning 9:30 to 11:15 at the funeral home. Interment St. Joseph's Cemetery, Schenectady.
