Obituary of Philip Manikas

Philip G. Manikas, 79, passed away Sunday, July 20, 2014. Philip was born in Schenectady, the son of the late George and Anthi Manikas. He graduated from Mont Pleasant High School and earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from Syracuse University. Philip proudly served in the US Army and was an educator for many years with the Syracuse City School District, retiring in 1995 as a principal. He is survived by his brother, William Manikas; sister, Elaine Sokaris and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Peter Manikas. Calling hours will be Wednesday 6 to 8 p.m. at the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady with the Trisagion Service at 7 p.m. A graveside service will be Thursday 10 a.m. at St. John's Cemetery, Schenectady.
